National Launch of the Dignified Treatment Project

Dignified Treatment is implemented with funding from the European Union under instrument EuropeAid/16923/DD/ACT/DO. It uses a strategy that combines the promotion, protection, and monitoring of respect for the human rights of migrants and their families, strengthening the capacity of these groups and their allies, while also engaging public opinion to make rights violations visible and help prevent them.

The launch panel included Ambassador Gianluca Grippa, Head of the Delegation of the European Union in the Dominican Republic, who delivered the opening remarks. Beneco Enecia, director of CEDESO, presented the project, its working strategies, and expected results, while Bridget Wooding, director of OBMICA, also took part.

The virtual event brought together a broad representation of government authorities, the diplomatic corps, cooperation agencies, United Nations agencies, and civil society organizations. The participation of migrants and their descendants from the Enriquillo region stood out, along with the CEDESO team that broadcast live from its facilities in Tamayo, Bahoruco province, as well as colleagues from Haiti, the United States, Brazil, and Spain.
