OBMICA Launches Its 2023 Yearbook

For thirteen consecutive years, OBMICA and its associated researchers have monitored the migrations that originate in, pass through, and arrive in the Dominican Republic within the insular Caribbean context. This effort culminates in the publication of State of Migration Concerning the Dominican Republic 2023, an essential reference for decision-makers, researchers, human rights defenders, communicators, academics, and students interested in migration issues.

The yearbook presents a broad analysis of the year's most relevant migration developments and trends, highlighting both the challenges and the opportunities these movements generate for the country and for the people involved. It retains the format of previous editions, making it easier to follow the evolution of migration flows, implemented policies, and public perceptions across five core chapters: migration trends in the insular Caribbean, Dominican emigration, immigration flows, migration governance in the Dominican Republic, and the human rights situation of migrants and their descendants.

OBMICA hopes this yearbook will continue providing key information for the formulation of more inclusive and sustainable migration policies that guarantee the human rights of migrants and their families.
