OBMICA Launches Its 2021 Yearbook
OBMICA announces its latest yearbook by offering a preview of the book's five chapters, edited by Sebastian Gerardo-Viala and Bridget Wooding. Since 2011, OBMICA and its team of associated researchers have monitored migration dynamics in the insular Caribbean and at the binational level between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, producing the annual State of Migration Concerning the Dominican Republic.
OBMICA is pleased to announce its latest yearbook through a preview of the book's five chapters, edited by Sebastian Gerardo-Viala and Bridget Wooding.
Since 2011, OBMICA and its team of associated researchers have monitored migration dynamics in the insular Caribbean and at the binational level between Haiti and the Dominican Republic. This effort results in State of Migration Concerning the Dominican Republic (EDM), OBMICA's annual migration statistics yearbook. EDM is the publication that best explains OBMICA's working model: research is conceived as a cycle that returns to the field to influence public policy, contribute to academic debate, and support civil society and state institutions.
The 2021 yearbook contains five chapters and is co-edited by Sebastian Gerardo-Viala and Bridget Wooding. Its authors are Liliana Degiorgis, Eddy Tejeda, Rafael Duran Rodriguez, Natalia Riveros, and Sebastian Gerardo-Viala. The chapters cover migration trends in the insular Caribbean, Dominican emigration, immigration flows, migration governance in the Dominican Republic, and the human rights situation of migrants and their descendants.
The publication is available online and in PDF format, with a design that uses icons and colors to guide readers through the content. OBMICA also presents a brief overview of each of the five chapters in this launch article.
