In a world such as ours, the path of development, equality, and citizens' rights inevitably passes through cooperation and understanding between nations. At the island scale, this represents a major responsibility for the Haitian and Dominican states, which, supported by their societies, must learn to live together in a climate of mutual respect and understanding while undertaking the unavoidable tasks imposed by globalization as sovereign nations able to work as good neighbors do.
