Gender and the Risk of Statelessness for the Population of Haitian Descent in the Bateyes of the Dominican Republic (Second Edition)

OBMICA presents the second edition of the book Gender and the Risk of Statelessness for the Population of Haitian Descent in the Bateyes of the Dominican Republic, authored by Allison J. Petrozziello with Amelia Hintzen and Juan Carlos Gonzalez Diaz.

This work republishes the results of the historical and sociological research first presented in 2014, where the authors argued that important gender dimensions shape the risk of becoming stateless, or remaining in a state of legal limbo, for the Dominican population of Haitian descent in the Dominican Republic. After the first edition, published in July 2014, went out of print, this reissue was proposed to fill the gap while leaving most of the text intact.

The second edition introduces two updates. First, it refreshes the conjuncture through a new prologue. Second, it adds an epilogue describing the follow-up to one of the book's recommendations concerning the documentation of daughters and sons born in the country to ethnically mixed couples.
