Sharing the new Civil Registry law (2023)

The meeting "Advances and Challenges in the Dominican Civil Registry: Awareness Days on the New Civil Status Records Law (Law 4-23)," aimed at social organizations, community groups, and institutions working on children issues, was held in Santo Domingo at the end of November.

The event, conceived as an informative and reflective session, sought to address the challenges and opportunities presented by the new legislation on the path toward guaranteeing access to civil registration for diverse populations that have historically faced challenges regarding identity documentation. It was a valuable opportunity to explore the changes introduced, thereby helping strengthen the capacities of institutions and social and community-based organizations to work under this new framework in favor of equitable access to rights, name, and nationality, as well as essential services for children and adolescents, while also promoting synergy and intersectoral coordination. The presentations were delivered by specialists in the field and representatives of institutions that guarantee the rights of vulnerable populations, with a special focus on children and adolescents.
