OBMICA Presents the Results of Research on Internal Trafficking of Women, Girls, Boys, and Adolescents
March 12, 2019.- On March 19, OBMICA will present the results of the exploratory research on the internal trafficking of women, girls, boys, and adolescents in the Dominican Republic, prepared with the support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).
The authors of this work, which will be presented at the Centro Cultural de Espana Santo Domingo, are experts Tahira Vargas and Segundo Maldonado Abreu. Their work promises an unusual approach to the question of trafficking, which often focuses on the emigration of Dominicans and the risk of trafficking. The event will take place at 5 p.m. and will be led by Tahira Vargas herself, accompanied by OBMICA's director, Bridget Wooding.
One of OBMICA's areas of work is the issue of human trafficking and the smuggling of migrants, and over the years it has worked on research on this problem as it relates to the island and the Caribbean region.
