OBMICA Participates in LASA and Caribbean Studies Association Conferences

June 12, 2016. The Caribbean Migration and Social Development Observatory, OBMICA, participated in a panel at the Annual Conference of the Latin American Studies Association held in New York in May. The panel focused on sovereignty and related forms of exclusion in the Dominican Republic, exploring how sovereignty operates in rural subjectivities and in connected exclusions affecting Haitian agricultural workers, people of Haitian descent, and rural Dominicans and Haitians with little land.

OBMICA took part in a panel at the annual Latin American Studies Association conference in New York, where participants explored sovereignty and connected forms of exclusion in the Dominican Republic, especially in relation to rural life, nationality, and Haitian workers.

The article also highlights OBMICA's presence at the annual Caribbean Studies Association conference held in Haiti, marking an important regional academic milestone.
