OBMICA Seeks Consultant for Study on Access to Nationality in Haiti: See Terms of Reference
The Centre for Migration Observation and Social Development in the Caribbean is implementing a project aimed at promoting advocacy to reduce statelessness in the Dominican Republic. One of the proposed results is the production of new knowledge and analysis on the roles and responsibilities of the Haitian state toward people of Haitian origin born outside Haiti.
The Centre for Migration Observation and Social Development in the Caribbean (OBMICA) is implementing a project aimed at promoting political advocacy to reduce statelessness in the Dominican Republic. One of the proposed results is the production of new knowledge and analysis on the roles and responsibilities of the Haitian state toward people of Haitian origin born outside Haiti.
Within this framework, OBMICA is calling on legal professionals and researchers in this field to submit applications for the consultancy on the study of past and current legislation on Haitian nationality, as well as the policies and practices of access to Haitian nationality for these persons born outside Haiti.
Candidate profile for the consultancy:
- Professional;
- Law degree or another subject related to the study;
- Experience in access to civil registry documents in Haiti, access to Haitian nationality, and human rights;
- Good interpersonal relations;
- Diplomacy;
- Strong synthesis and writing skills in French;
- Experience in organizing discussion groups;
- Sensitivity to gender issues, intersectionality, and binational relations between Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
