The Dominican@s for Rights Platform, of which OBMICA is a member, co-sponsored the side event linked to the Global Refugee Forum: Multi-stakeholder approaches to eradicating statelessness

The December 12 gathering brought together diverse voices from civil society, governments, UN organizations, and organizations led by stateless people.

A broad diagnosis was made of the efforts underway to eradicate statelessness. It therefore included considerations related to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and fulfilling the objectives outlined in the Global Compact on Refugees. In the first segment of the event, UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Cate Blanchett spoke with Neha Gurung, co-founder of the Citizenship Affected People's Network in Nepal, and Noor Azizah, co-founder and director of the Rohingya Maiyafuinor Collaborative Network. In the second segment, Aleksejs Ivashuk, founder of the Apatride Network and co-lead of the Global Movement Against Statelessness, moderated a panel with Christiana Bukalo, co-founder of Statefree, Kristine Leilani Salle, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Philippines, Patrick Eba, Deputy Director of UNHCR's Division of International Protection, and Adriana Quinones, Head of Human Rights and Development at UN Women Geneva.
