Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) Meeting, March 2025

At this meeting, Haitian feminist women leaders pointed to the rise in gender-based violence, exclusion from decision-making spaces, and the denial of the resources needed to bring about change.

On March 14 in New York, Haitian Women's Collective, Neges Mawon, and Institute for Justice & Democracy in Haiti organized a side event to discuss the profound crisis they are facing and its connection to governance failures in their country. Regarding migration, more than one million people are internally displaced: women and girls are among the most vulnerable. However, there is no national strategy for their protection. The justice system in Haiti, described as corrupt and patriarchal, leaves survivors of gender-based violence far from obtaining justice. They state: ?This rollback of rights is taking place in full view of the international community.?
